These instructions assume that you are running Apple iOS 4 or greater on the iPhone 3G. Ensure you have download version 1.34 or greater of the latest Jabra Solemate firmware from the official Jabra Solemate support site [2]. After you have set up the speaker you can turn off the default 'Solemate is connected' announcements by holding down the Volume down button when turning on the Jabra Solemate until you hear 'Sound prompts off'.

  1. The following instructions describe how to pair the Jabra Solemate with the iPhone 3G. On the right hand side of the bluetooth speaker locate the power slider, there are three settings - off, on and bluetooth. Starting from the off position move the power switch all the way to the top and hold it until the indicator light turns flashing blue and you hear the announcement "Go ahead and connect me, use the Bluetooth setting on your phone".
  2. On the home screen of the phone open Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and turn the Bluetooth option on.
  3. Underneath select Jabra Solemate from the list of nearby devices to connect to the iPhone, it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
  4. The Jabra Solemate and the iPhone 3G are now ready to be used to play music. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application that can play audio will bring up a list of devices where you will be able to toggle between headphones, the loudspeaker and the Jabra Solemate. In the future you can turn on the Jabra Solemate and it will automatically connect to the iPhone 3G without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the "Solemate is connected" announcement.
  5. As long as you don’t pair the Jabra with any other devices this will continue to automatically connect to the iPhone 3G.

How to play audio on the Jabra Solemate from the iPhone 3G using a standard cable

  1. These instructions show you how to hook up the iPhone 3G to the Jabra Solemate using a cable to play music. First locate the headphone socket on the top of the phone.
  2. With the speaker turned off locate the line in port on the Jabra Solemate. This can be located on the right of the speaker above the USB port.
  3. Connect the headphone socket on the iPhone 3G to the line in on the Jabra Solemate port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
  4. Any audio from the iPhone 3G will stop playing on the phone speaker and play on the Jabra Solemate instead.
  5. After turning on the speaker you will hear a "Bluetooth off" announcement, this means that the speaker will only play audio from the line in port . The Jabra Solemate and the iPhone 3G are now connected and can to be used to play audio. [AD]
