How to connect any mobile phone to a Beats Pill

This how-to guide is for a generic mobile phone and assume the phone has a standard micro USB port, Bluetooth connectivity and a headphone socket. For all the latest phones visit the Mobile phones page for a full list of makes and models.
These instructions show you how to connect to Beats Pill 2 speakers to the mobile phone. Please note that these instructions refer to the Beats Pill 2 and not the original Beats Pill first generation, visit the Beats page for the full range of Beats bluetooth speakers. Before connecting Beats Pill 2 speakers to anything we recommend downloading the latest Beats firmware from the official Beats Pill support site [1] using the Update tool.
Connect any mobile phone to a Beats Pill using Bluetooth
Step by step instructions on how to connect any mobile phone to a Beats Pill wirelessly.
- The following instructions describe how to pair any mobile phone with a Beats Pill. First you will need to turn on the Beats Pill by pressing and releasing the power button, you can find the power button located the top of the Beats Pill Bluetooth speaker. Then press the 'b' for around three seconds until the Bluetooth LED located on the rear of the Pill flashes white. This indicates that the Beats Pill speaker is in pairing mode.
- These instructions assume your phone is able to stream music using Bluetooth. As all mobile phones are different please visit the Mobile phones page to see if your specific make and model is listed first. If the phone is not on the list but supports Bluetooth A2DP streaming then choose the settings or options page on the phone, look for the Bluetooth menu and turn on the Bluetooth option.
- Select the Beats Pill from the list of nearby devices to pair with the phone.
- The Beats Pill and the mobile phone are now ready to be used to play music. When the Bluetooth speaker has been paired the Bluetooth LED will glow white.
- In the future you can turn on the Bluetooth speaker and it will automatically connect to the mobile phone without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the light to glow. The Beats Pill can pair with up to eight Bluetooth devices, when you turn it on it will attempt to connect with the most recent Bluetooth device.

Playing audio on a Beats Pill from any mobile phone using a phone cable

- These instructions show you how to hook up any mobile phone to a Beats Pill using a cable to play music.
- First locate the headphone socket on your mobile phone. It is a small round socket on your phone which is 3.5mm in size, and you might, you might need to refer to your phone's instruction manual to find it. It is sometimes referred to as a headphone jack, 3.5mm jack or 3.5mm phone connector [3].
- With the Beats Pill turned off locate the IN port located at the back of the speaker to the left of the power button.
- Connect the headphone socket on the mobile phone to the IN on the Beats Pill port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [4].
- Any audio on the mobile phone should stop playing on the phone speaker and will play on a Beats Pill instead.
- After switching on the speaker you should be playing music from the mobile phone. The Beats Pill and the mobile phone are now ready to be used to play audio. [AD]
