  1. Follow these steps to pair the iPad Air with a Beats Pill XL. First you need to turn on the Beats Pill XL by holding the power button, hold the round 'b' for 3 seconds until the light flashes. This indicates that the Beats Pill speaker is in pairing mode and ready to connect to the iPad Air.
  2. From the home screen on the iPad Air select the Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and turn the Bluetooth option on.
  3. Underneath select Beats Pill XL from the list of nearby devices to pair with the iPad, shortly afterwards it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
  4. The Beats Pill XL and the iPad Air are paired and ready to be used to play music. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application on the iPad that can play audio will bring up a list of devices where you will be able to toggle between the headphones, loudspeaker and a Beats Pill XL.   1. These instructions show you how to hook up the iPad Air to a Beats Pill XL using a cable to play audio. Firstly locate the headphone socket on the top right of the iPad.
  2. Turn the Beats Pill XL around so the back is facing you making sure the power is switched off.
  3. Access the IN port by pulling out then rotating the rubber cover to the left of the 'beats pill xl' logo. The IN port is located to the left of the OUT port.
  4. Connect the headphone socket on the iPad Air to the IN on the Beats Pill XL port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
  5. From now on any sounds from the iPad will stop playing on the iPad speaker and play on a Beats Pill XL instead.
  6. Turn on the speaker and you will hear music playing from the iPad Air to the Beats Pill XL. The Beats Pill XL and the iPad Air are now connected and can to be used to play audio.
