How to connect the iPad Air to a Beats Pill

These instructions assume that you have installed Apple iOS 7 or greater on the iPad Air. The following instructions show you how to connect to Beats Pill 2 speakers to your iPad Air. Note that these instructions refer to the Beats Pill 2 and not the original Beats Pill first generation, visit the Beats page for the full range of Beats bluetooth speakers. Before you connect Beats Pill 2 speakers to anything we recommend downloading the latest Beats firmware from the official Beats Pill support site [2] using the Beats firmware updater.
Connect a Beats Pill from the iPad Air using Bluetooth

- Follow these steps to pair a Beats Pill with the iPad Air. First you need to turn on the Beats Pill by pressing and releasing the power button, the power button is located the top of the Beats Pill. Then press the 'b' for three seconds until the Bluetooth LED located on the back of the Pill flashes white. This indicates that the speaker is in pairing mode.
- From the home screen on the iPad Air select the Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and turn on the Bluetooth option.
- Underneath select Beats Pill from the list of nearby devices to pair with the iPad, it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
- The Beats Pill and the iPad Air are paired and ready to be used to play music. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application on the tablet which plays audio will bring up a list of devices where you will be able to toggle between headphones, the loudspeaker and a Beats Pill. When the Bluetooth speaker has been paired to the iPad Air the Bluetooth light will glow solid white.
- In the future you can turn on the Beats Pill speaker and it will automatically connect to the iPad Air without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the light to glow. The Beats Pill Bluetooth speaker can remember up to 8 devices, when first turned on it will attempt to connect with the the iPad Air unless you connection another device.

- These instructions show you how to hook up the iPad Air to a Beats Pill using a cable to play music. Firstly locate the headphone socket at the top right of the tablet.
- With the Beats Pill Bluetooth speaker turned off locate the IN port located at the rear of the speaker next to the OUT port.
- Connect the headphone socket on the iPad Air to the IN on the Beats Pill port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [4].
- From now on any audio from the iPad will stop playing on the speaker and play on a Beats Pill instead.
- After switching on the speaker you will be playing music from the iPad Air. The Beats Pill and the iPad Air are now connected and ready to be used to play audio. [AD]
